Minister of the STF allows the entry of nine people listed in the defense request, as long as ‘all visits comply with previously established legal and judicial determinations’
The minister of the (STF) authorized this Friday (17) that the former president of the Republic (PL) organize a 15th birthday lunch for his youngest daughter on Saturday (18), in the house where he is under house arrest. The nine people listed in the defense request were authorized to enter: six are members of the prayer group held by the former first lady and the others are the birthday girl’s godmother; Senator Damares Alves; and makeup artist Agustin Fernandez.
In the decision, Moraes highlighted that “all visits must comply with previously established legal and judicial determinations, as well as inspections of the cabins and trunks of all vehicles that leave the defendant’s residence”.
According to Bolsonaro’s defense petition, presented on Thursday (16), the celebration will be a “family lunch, without any public or political connotation”, and will also include friends of the birthday girl, who are minors and are not on the authorization list.
The former president has been imprisoned at home since August this year, for violating precautionary measures as part of an investigation into coercion during the process. On Monday (13), Moraes denied a defense request to revoke the house arrest. According to the minister, precautionary measures remain necessary, highlighting the “well-founded fear of the defendant escaping”, after he was sentenced to 27 years and three months for leading the coup plot.
