A stapler removed Manuela from the presidential elections. 20 years later, it’s back (and has support)

Manuela Magno will be – or wants to be – candidate for President of the Republic. In 2006, it didn’t go well: there was no stapling left.

O It was Portugal announced that supports at Manuela Magno to the presidency of the Republic, in next year’s presidential elections.

“We did so because we believe it is a candidacy that calls for action and hope, and because we are convinced that politics should serve people and not use them”, explains the party.

Volt identifies with the motto presented in the electoral manifesto of Manuela Magno, who was Volt’s representative: “Active citizenship is not to be left out. It’s thinking, participating and acting. Every day”.

He assures that Manuela will be a president of “active citizenship, with a vision of the future, with a global and humanist vision, and with a sense of mission”.

But the Volt warns: 7,500 signatures must be gathered valid – as with any suitor.

Therefore, the party is trying to collect more signatures and will take advantage of its national meeting on November 2nd to organize itself on this issue.

This is the second time that Manuela Magno is a candidate for President of the Republic.

The first was 20 years ago. At the time, in 2006, he actually managed to gather 7,500 signatures. But his candidacy was rejected by the Constitutional Court – because voter certificates were not properly stapledremember .

Now, enter the race to Belém again so that the “same names” are not always present that have been heard since the pandemic. In August I was already organizing gatherings on citizenship.

And she is optimistic: “I am convinced that, if people get to know me, I will have a surprising adherence.”

Manuel Magno is music teacher and has training in Nuclear physics. She was a candidate for the Humanist Party and representative of Volt Portugal, the party that now supports her.
