Government says it will not tolerate drug trafficking after Lula’s speech – 10/24/2025 – Brasília Hoje

The government (PT) spoke out in a statement after the president stated, in a conversation with journalists in Indonesia, that drug traffickers are also victims of drug users.

“The Government of Brazil does not tolerate drug trafficking and acts with rigor and intelligence actions, obtaining historic results against the backbone of criminal organizations”, says the note.

Next, the Planalto text lists results of operations to combat drug trafficking since 2024, compared to previous years.

“In two years, the Government of Brazil practically doubled the number of operations to combat organized crime, from 1,875 in 2022 to 3,393 in 2024. This historic work can advance even further with the innovations of the Government of Brazil in the Public Security PEC and other texts sent to the National Congress. The objective is to bring together forces from across the country to dismantle the structures that fuel crime”, he further says.

“Effective actions and historic results against criminal organizations reaffirm the Government of Brazil’s commitment to the safety of the country’s families. The Government of Brazil remains firm against organized crime and on the side of the Brazilian people”, concludes the statement.
