According to the PM, Luiz stated that he attacked the woman with several stab wounds after an argument inside the house. During the attack, the victim’s granddaughter, a 15-year-old teenager, tried to defend her and ended up injured with a knife. She was rescued and survived.

After the crime, the man fled to a nearby wooded area. Teams from Rondas Ostensivas Táticas (Rotam) began searching during the early hours of the morning and located the suspect hiding in an abandoned building that housed an old radio transmission company. He tried to escape, but was surrounded and arrested in the act.

In testimony, Luiz said that he had asked his wife for money before attacking her. He also said that he tried to kill her by asphyxiation and, given his granddaughter’s reaction, he used a knife to injure the two victims. The weapon used was not found by the police.

After his arrest, the man was taken to the Cruzeiro do Sul Civil Police Station, where he remains at the disposal of the Justice Department.
