Lorenzoni’s testimony is scheduled for November 6th

The Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry () that investigates fraud in retirement and pensions at the National Social Security Institute () is about to hear from the former Minister of Labor and Social Security, . Lorenzoni’s testimony is scheduled for November 6, as part of an agreement between the members of the commission to summon former Social Security ministers who held the position from 2015 until 2025. During Jair Bolsonaro’s government, Lorenzoni played a significant role, and now he joins a list of former ministers and former INSS directors who will be heard, as well as representatives of confederations and associations unions who may have benefited from the deviations investigated by the Federal Police and the General Comptroller of the Union (CGU).

In the last CPMI session, businesswoman Thaísa Hoffman, wife of Virgílio Oliveira Filho, former INSS attorney general, was heard. Both appeared under a habeas corpus granted by the Federal Supreme Court (), which allowed them to remain silent during their testimony. The lack of answers, especially regarding the evolution of assets and the negotiation of a luxury apartment, generated frustration among the committee members.

The rapporteur, deputy Alfredo Gaspar, did not obtain significant clarifications, which raised concerns about the effectiveness of the investigations. The expectation is that new statements will take place until November 17th, with the aim of advancing the investigations together with the Federal Police and the CGU.
