Rating agency Scope downgrades USA to AA-

Berlin – The rating agency Scope has downgraded the credit rating of the USA from “AA” to “AA-” due to persistently high deficits and a weakening of governance. The European agency announced on Friday evening that the outlook for the new rating is now stable. As justification, Scope pointed to the persistently high budget deficits, the rising interest burden and the erosion of the separation of powers due to the concentration of power in the executive branch under President Donald Trump.
