The Insper professor Roberto Dumas warns of the risks of a new global economic crisis, driven by excess liquidity in the global financial market.
The economist highlighted, during the WW Especialthat the current volume of available capital is creating conditions for a possible financial bubble, even given the positive perspectives related to artificial intelligence.
According to Dumas, , which includes paper money, demand and time deposits, showed annual growth of 6% in the last decade, reaching approximately US$20 trillion. “This scenario has generated atypical behavior in the financial market”, says the professor.
Warning signs in the market
One of the most worrying indicators, according to the economist, is the unusual correlation between the and the . “Traditionally, these assets show opposite movements, but currently both are on an upward trend, signaling an excess of capital in the market”, highlights Roberto.
The expert draws a parallel with previous crises, such as those of 2000, 2008 e 2020arguing that the measures adopted by central banks to contain each crisis end up sowing the seeds of the next collapse. “The last significant injection of liquidity occurred during the pandemic, contributing to the current situation of abundant capital in the market”, concludes the expert.
