Terrazzo is a frequently chosen material for graves due to its incredible durability. At first glance, cleaning it is quite a challenge because it often creates unsightly streaks and stains. However, it turns out that you can easily clean such a monument with products that we already have in our homes. Therefore, there will be no need to use expensive, specialized means.
Terrazzo is an artificial stone made from a mixture of cement, aggregate and water. Its great advantage is that it takes various forms and can be used to create aesthetic patterns.
However, we must clean it regularly and properly. Otherwise, unwanted streaks and stains will appear on the grave. In the worst case scenario, the material will be damaged.
What mistakes should be avoided when cleaning terrazzo? When removing leaves and other debris we cannot use hard brushes e.g. wires or sponges with a rough coating. Clean the tombstone with a soft cloth or a brush with soft bristles.
Do not forcefully rub the monument. In such a situation, the material will be exploited quickly. Dirt and moss, which is difficult to remove, will begin to accumulate in minor breaches.
For cleaning terrazzo do not use strong chemicals, especially those containing chlorine. They can damage the coating of the material, making the grave look unsightly.

Terrazzo can be cleaned in no time with dishwashing liquid or gray soap. Just dilute them in a bucket of warm water. Apply this gently foaming mixture to the grave using a soft cloth and thoroughly wash every nook and cranny (you can use a brush with soft bristles). After about 5 minutes, rinse the monument with warm water and wipe it dry with a microfiber cloth.
For heavy dirt, baking soda paste will work better. To make it, simply mix white powder with a small amount of water. Apply this natural cleaning agent to the stains for 15 minutes. After this time, wash it off with warm water.
Finally, we recommend using a waterproofing agent. Thanks to it, the tombstone will remain clean much longer.
