Cases of methanol poisoning rise to 58 across the country; 15 people died

The number of notifications of methanol poisoning after consumption of alcoholic beverages updated by the Ministry of Health, this Friday (24), indicates, in total, 58 confirmed cases and 50 under investigation. 635 notifications have already been discarded.

The number of deaths reached 15, nine in São Paulo, six in Paraná and six in Pernambuco.

Nine more deaths remain under investigation: four in Pernambuco, two in Paraná, one in Minas Gerais, one in Mato Grosso do Sul and one in São Paulo. 32 death notifications that were under investigation were discarded.

São Paulo leads

The state of São Paulo continues to have the highest number of cases: 44 confirmed and 14 under investigation. There are still six confirmed cases in Paraná, five in Pernambuco, one in Rio Grande do Sul, one in Mato Grosso and one in Tocantins.
