Halloween 2026: see the releases of horror films and series this month

Halloween is approaching, and with the most anticipated season for horror fans. The month of October delivered an agenda full of scares and suspense on screens — from cinemas to streaming platforms.

New series and film premieres explored everything from psychological horror to classic monster stories. Some great classics, including “Psycho” (1960) and “Friday the 13th” (1980), .

“The Black Telephone 2” – in cinemas

The phone rings — and the . After the unexpected success of “The Black Telephone” (2022), the director Scott Derrickson returned with an even more intense sequence, with more scares, more mystery and new challenges for the young protagonists who survived the masked serial killer.

In the plot, while Finn (Mason Thames)now 17, tries to deal with life after captivity, sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw)15 years old, starts receiving calls in his dreams through the black phone.

Together, Gwen and Finn will have to face a killer (Ethan Hawke) who became even more powerful after death — and more connected to them than they could ever imagine.

“Bury Your Dead” – October 30 in theaters

Starring Selton Mello and Marjorie Estianowhich takes place in the small town of Abalurdes, where Edgar Wilson works as a collector of dead animals on the roads to keep them running.

Next to him is Tomás, an excommunicated ex-priest who distributes extreme unction to the dying beings who cross his path, and his boss Nete – with whom Edgar has an incipient relationship, in addition to the desire to escape from Abalurdes. Around them, the world seems to show signs that a final rapture is approaching.

“O Porão da Rua do Grito” – October 30th in theaters

Another, brings a dark and suspenseful fable, promising to deliver a psychological horror with a Brazilian identity.

In the plot, Jonas (Giovanni De Lorenzi) and Rebecca (Carol Marques da Costa) are orphaned brothers who live in an old mansion with their weakened grandmother (Eliana Guttman).

The house hides a terrifying secret: a mysterious child locked in the basement (played by Nicolas França). When Rebeca tries to sell the property with the help of a social worker (Chris Couto)the family’s dark past begins to reveal itself.

“Present Maldito” – available on Paramout+

Polly (Dakota Fanning) receives a mysterious box from an unexpected visitor in the middle of the night, along with a simple instruction. She must put three things inside: something she needs, something she hates, and something she loves. What begins as a strange ritual soon becomes a nightmare, and Polly must face a series of difficult choices.

“Monster: The Ed Gein Story” – available on Netflix

Third season of , a Netflix anthology (which addresses murderers that marked the history of the United States).

The actor Charlie Hunnam (“Sons of Anarchy”) will play the criminal known as Ed Gein who, in addition to having murdered between two and ten people, invaded Wisconsin cemeteries and morguesin the United States, to steal skins, bones and organs.

“It: Welcome to Derry” – available on HBO Max

The production is set in 1962, more than two decades before the events portrayed in the adaptation of the author’s classic work. Stephen King, “It – A Coisa” (2017).

In total, there will be eight episodes, which focus on Pennywise the clown origin story. The Swedish actor Bill Skarsgård returns as the iconic character after playing the clown in the cinema.

“Real Fear” – available on Netflix

The production, (“The Conjuring”) features immersive reenactments and recent and real interviews, showing paranormal encounters from the point of view of those who experienced them.
