Brazilians compete for the best referee in the world award; find out details

The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) announced, this Monday (27), the list of professionals who are competing for the best referee in the world award in 2025.

Brazil has two representatives: São Paulo and Goiás. Both were present at the last World Cup and are pre-selected for the 2026 edition, alongside Edina Alves and Ramon Abatti Abel.

To reach the final list, the IFFHS jury counts on the collaboration of sports journalists from 120 countries. The result will be announced on December 10th.

Last year, Frenchman François Letexier, who refereed the match between Fluminense and Chelsea in the Club World Cup semi-final, was the winner of the award. Brazil has already won the award with Romualdo Filho (1987) and José Roberto Wright (1990).
