Turull rules out that a meeting between Puigdemont and Sánchez will renew the Junts-PSOE relationship
The general secretary of Junts, Jordi Turull, ruled out this Tuesday that a hypothetical meeting between the leader of Junts, Carles Puigdemont and the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, redirects the relationship between the parties and that the decision of the post-convergents is due to an alleged rise of Aliança Catalana in the polls.
“The issue is that we no longer believe them. That is to say, the basket of non-compliance, of lack of will, of lack of trust, that we should improve it and that this has gotten worse, is so great that this does not solve it. We are already in the phase of the facts. We have already heard so many words said,” he said in an interview on Rac1.
He has blamed the PSOE for failing to comply with the Brussels agreement, which was “a window of opportunity”, and has assured that the socialists have failed to comply with trust, compliance with agreements and results. He has indicated that Junts does not have the Government’s “will to be a crutch” and has urged Sánchez to reflect and say how he intones his legislature after the breakup.
He has expressed that PSOE officials have written to them with private messages “with good words” and, asked if the decision was due to an alleged rise of Aliança Catalana in the polls, he denied it, since, for example, when they negotiated the transfer of immigration powers to Catalonia, Aliança Catalana did not have parliamentary representation.
Regarding whether they will support an instrumental motion of censure against Sánchez with PP and Vox, he has relied on the words of the Junts spokesperson in Congress, Miriam Nogueras, from a week ago, and has said that “the socialists have suspended many subjects of this agreement, but the PP should repeat the course.” (EP)
