The Los Angeles Dodgers won one of the most iconic in the history of the World Series. In a duel that lasted six hours, the Californian team overcame the Toronto Blue Jays in a true test of endurance, which equaled the record for the longest game in MLB history.

Game 3 of the 2025 World Series is one for the books. The departure of 18 entries not only marked a memorable chapter against the Blue Jays, but also repeated the 2018 feat.

“The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays made history with their 18-inning marathon in Game 3 of the 2025 World Series, tying the record for the longest ‘World Series’ game. It tied the 18-inning game record from 2018, when the Dodgers beat the Boston Red Sox with a home run by Max Muncy in the 18th inning of Game 3, right here at Dodger Stadium,” wrote USA Today’s Jesse Yomtov.

The Hero of the Time: Freddie Freeman Decide with Another Home Run

As if the night wasn’t already special, the outcome could only come from the hands of a star. He was Freddie Freeman who kicked the ball out of the field, ensuring the Dodgers’ victory with a walk-off home run and, finally, breaking another record in the World Series for the second year in a row.

MLB highlighted the first baseman’s feat:

“Freddie Freeman is the first player with multiple walk-offs homers in the HISTORY of the World Series.”

Ohtani and the Class Gesture with Yamamoto

As the party took over the field, Shohei Ohtani starred in a moment that went viral on social media. The team’s star took a quick break from the celebration to meet with Yoshinobu Yamamotowho was running from bullpen after warming up to enter the game.

Ohtani made sure Yamamoto felt part of the victory. The simple gesture, but full of meaning, reinforced the cast’s unity. Last year, Freeman had been the big name, winning the World Series MVP. This time, the moment had the same dose of magic, but with a touch of companionship.

“The Dodgers win with a walk-off and Shohei Ohtani runs onto the field to celebrate with Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who was warming up in the bullpen,” published Ben Verlander.

The victory in Game 3 was monumental for the Dodgers. For the Blue Jays, the tough task remains to recover emotionally and physically for the next game. And Ohtani’s unexpected run to third base to celebrate? This one, certainly, no one had in mind.
