According to the State Attorney General, Antônio Campos Moreira, access and checking images are an essential part of the investigation into deaths that occurred during police action.

The State Attorney General, Antônio Campos Moreira, said that access and checking of images are an essential part of the investigation into deaths that occurred during police action.
Asked about the number of cameras used by police officers in the operation, the prosecutor said that all information about what happened during the operation will first depend on the presentation of a detailed report by both police forces. “Based on the report, the receipt of the images, the first autopsy reports, the ballistic confrontation reports – the first statements that are already being taken by the civil police – they will be produced independently by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. From there, we will have a safer technical view of what actually happened.”
The prosecutor said that, with all these elements, “we will know for sure what happened in that real urban guerrilla scenario”. According to him, “the investigation is not easy, because part of the confrontation took place in a dense forest area, but all the protocols already in place will allow us to form a safer and strictly technical view of the facts.”
Prosecutor Antônio Campos Moreira informed that he will take statements, not only from the chain of command, but from the authorization of the operation, through its planning and, also, from those responsible for carrying out the measures. He also said that he will listen to people who are willing to testify about the facts.
“We have a structure here at the Public Ministry that, in parallel with monitoring police operations, we have a direct channel of communication with the population. Everyone who comes to us will be received with dignity, will be heard and we will, based on this set of information, form a strictly technical view of the problem”, he stated.
