Information was confirmed in an official statement from Buckingham Palace; second son of Queen Elizabeth II, aged 65, has lived at Royal Lodge since 2003, alongside his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguso
O This Thursday (30) began a formal process to remove all titles and honors from his brother, Prince Andrew, amid investigations into his involvement with American financier and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The information was confirmed in an official statement from Buckingham Palace. “From now on, Prince Andrew will be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor,” the text said. In addition to the loss of his titles, Andrew will have to leave his official residence, the Royal Lodge, located on the Windsor royal estate. According to the palace, “a formal notice was given to him to resign from the contract” and move to a private house.
Queen Elizabeth II’s second son, 65, has lived at Royal Lodge since 2003, alongside his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. He will be transferred to Sandringham Estate, one of the royal family’s rural properties, located in Norfolk, about 180 kilometers from London, according to the Press Association.
The monarch’s decision comes amid increased public pressure following the release last week of the posthumous memoirs of Virginia Giuffre — Epstein’s main accuser. In the book, Giuffre claims to have been used as a sex slave by the financier and reports having had relations with Andrew on three occasions. Epstein died in 2019, in a New York prison, before being tried for sex trafficking of minors. Buckingham Palace did not provide further details about the process of withdrawing the titles, but sources close to the king said the decision seeks to “protect the integrity of the British monarchy”.
