Robberies in the city of 2025 showed a significant drop compared to 2024, reaching the lowest numbers since the beginning of the historical series, in 2001. Data from the SSP, referring to the accumulated period from January to September, show a reduction in all main categories of property crimes.
The total number of robberies in general fell by 12.1%, from 86,751 cases in 2024 to 76,188 in 2025. Vehicle thefts showed the biggest proportional drop, of 15.8%, with 7,650 incidents this year compared to 9,089 in the same period last year.
Cases of robbery, robbery followed by death, also decreased, from 42 cases in 2024 to 28 in 2025, which represents a reduction of 33.3%. In the case of vehicle thefts, the drop was 6.9%, with 29,595 records in 2025, compared to 31,805 in the previous year.
