During a press conference this Friday (31), the Police of informed that, of the 99 dead already identified in the mega-operation in the Penha and Alemão Complexes, 78 had criminal records, 42 had open arrest warrants and 40 were from other states. The official balance sheet points to a total of 121 deaths, including four police officers.

Among those killed outside Rio, there were criminals from at least seven states: Pará, Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará, Paraíba, Goiás and Espírito Santo. The presence of traffickers from other regions, according to authorities, shows that the Penha Complex functions as a strategic point for the flow of drugs and weapons from the Red Command. Among the leaders from other states killed in the action are “Russo”, head of drug trafficking in Vitória (ES), “Chico Rato”, from Manaus (AM), and “Mazola”, from Feira de Santana (BA). Furthermore, delegate Curi reported that the people who died were from four of the five regions of Brazil. Only the South region was not neutralized.
