Eduarda Bezerra achieved a historic feat earlier this month. About two and a half years after debuting in bodybuilding, the athlete from Pernambuco won the Olympia – the most important and disputed championship in the sport – in the Wellness category.
What many fans may not know is that Eduarda’s history in the fitness world began long before the sporting stage. In an interview with the column, she explained the positive points of having been a model before entering competitive sport.
“The delicacy that I learned to have when taking photos and videos for the brands I represented, at the time, was combining the useful with the pleasant […] because it helped me to have the stage presence necessary for bodybuilding”, he said.
“I’ve never been an embarrassed person because I’ve always worked with the media, and this gives me even more security as an athlete. Even though I’m on the biggest stages in the world, I feel at home. Everything I built as a model is essential for my career in bodybuilding.”
Although she recognizes that “exposing your physique as an athlete is very different from doing so as a model”, the bodybuilder pointed out that experience in her former profession is one of the main factors responsible for her resourcefulness and confidence on stage.
Finally, Eduarda recalled that her first contact with the sport occurred at Olympia itself and that is why the title in question is so symbolic.
“I am very fulfilled within bodybuilding because, when I entered the sport, I already had very clear goals for my career. I always dreamed of being on that stage alongside the best in the world. My first contact with bodybuilding happened when I attended the 2022 edition of the Olympia. It is something extraordinary to be able to experience everything that I love and that I chose for my life as an athlete and as a person”, she stated.
