Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid will undergo a Federal Supreme Court (STF) hearing this Monday, 3rd, at 2pm, which marks the formal beginning of serving his sentence. He will be informed of the conditions he must comply with to remain open and will have his electronic ankle bracelet removed.
Former aide-de-camp to former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Cid signed a collaboration agreement in the investigations into the coup plot and received the lowest sentence among the members of the central nucleus, two years in an open regime.
Cid was the only one of the eight defendants in group 1 who did not file an appeal against his conviction, which made his conviction final (final). Minister Alexandre de Moraes ordered the sentence to begin last Thursday, 30th. The other defendants, including Bolsonaro, will have their appeals analyzed from November 7th by the First Panel of the Court.

The former advisor served two years and four months in prison and precautionary measures and the defense asked that this entire period be deducted from the final sentence, but Moraes’ decision only mentions the provisional prison time. The minister also orders the return of seized assets and the “carrying out of necessary actions by the Federal Police to maintain the safety of the defendant and his family”. His passport remains canceled and must be collected by the Federal District Court.
To continue serving his sentence in an open regime, Mauro Cid must meet the following conditions:
- Prohibition of being absent from the district in which you live, home confinement at night (from 8 pm to 6 am) and full time on weekends;
- Weekly attendance at the Federal District Court;
- Prohibition of leaving the country;
- Immediate suspension of firearm possession documents;
- Prohibition of carrying weapons;
- Prohibition of using social networks;
- Prohibition of communicating with the other defendants in the coup plot.
