Centrals charge Boulos for regulating motorcycle couriers – 11/04/2025 – Panel

Directors expressed discomfort and want a hearing with the minister (General Secretariat of the Presidency) to discuss the regulation of the activity of motorbike freight drivers using apps.

Boulos expressed his desire to create a working group to regulate the profession of motorcycle couriers in . While still a deputy, the psolista had already held public hearings with representatives of the category.

However, unionists say that Boulos only addresses the issue with his supporters and representatives of social movements.

“Boulos needs to listen to the UGT, which has a national representation of motorcycle couriers, and the other unions. And not just those linked to the union”, stated Ricardo Patah, president of the UGT (General Union of Workers).

—affiliated with UGT—, says that his entity has been ignored by the minister. The Sindimotos leader supported the re-election of Ricardo Nunes (MDB), Boulos’ opponent in the 2024 elections in the capital.

Miguel Torres, from Força Sindical, says that the regulation has already been created in negotiations with the Minister of Labor, Luiz Marinho, and also in a bill authored by deputy Luiz Gastão (PSD-CE), which establishes rights and duties of companies, users and app workers.

“Boulos knows more about the social movement and has now taken over and wanted to listen to him. But it is up to me, as I understand it, for the Ministry of Labor to act on legislation that guarantees Social Security and insurance for these workers, who work up to 16 hours a day”, says Torres.

Adilson Araújo, from CTB (Central dos Trabalhadores do Brasil), “the solution to the problem is not in the hands of Boulos, nor the government.”

“This is a fight that will require organization and political awareness to broadly mobilize workers to fight and change this reality, from the workplace”, says Araújo.
