“Disgusting”. Inês Sousa Real wants 1 cent in compensation after insult from Rita Matias

“Be ashamed!”, “This woman doesn’t deserve any respect! She’s disgusting! Disgusting!” PAN leader made a formal complaint to CTED and wants symbolic compensation.

The Commission for Transparency and Status of Deputies (CTED) opened an investigation into the Chega deputy, Rita Matiasfor an alleged insult directed at the PAN leader, Inês Sousa Realduring a parliamentary session.

The case dates back to September 19, during the voting of a vote of condolence for a 22-year-old pitchfork in a bullfight in Campo Pequeno. Sousa Real voted against and, in response, Rita Matias uttered expressions such as “Be ashamed!”, “This woman doesn’t deserve any respect! She’s disgusting! Disgusting!” — without the president of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, intervening immediately.

The PAN deputy presented a formal complaint to CTEDclaiming that Matias’ words constituted an offense to his personal and institutional dignity. At the same time, he asked the President of Parliament to open an investigation and apply a symbolic compensation of one centif the offense is proven.

According to , the inquiry was approved last week with favorable votes from PSD, PS, IL and Livre, with only Chega voting against. This case joins the case against Rita Matias, related to a complaint from Livre, after the deputy read in plenary a list of foreign names of children from a school in Lisbon.
