The pressure for the creation of the Ministry of Public Security should be reinforced in a seminar on the topic that it will promote on December 1st and 2nd in Rio de Janeiro.

According to Edinho, the Justice department has too many tasks, and attention to security ends up being scattered.
“It ends up that this very important area is diluted within other Justice issues, such as immigration, diffuse rights, relations with other Powers, among others”, says the party president.
He states that the idea of holding the seminar and the chosen location were already defined before the episode in the Penha and Alemão favelas, last week. “Of course, now this takes on another meaning,” he says.
Although the Lula government is being cautious when commenting on the police operation, the PT president is openly critical of the case.
“The precedent is very serious. Those who applaud the slaughter of other people’s children could also be the next victims. If they have authorization to kill, this power cannot be trivialized. The law must be complied with, or the entire society will be exposed to the same illegality”, he declared.
He adds that actions that demonstrate a response to the problem gain public opinion, “even if they do not mean they are effective against the structure of crime.”
