The voice of the victims reaches the Congressional Dana Commission that begins this Tuesday

The Congressional Commission that will investigate the management of the damage that caused more than 200 fatalities, mainly in Valencia a year ago, will start this Tuesday with the appearances of the representatives of the victims, who will be the first to speak, during three sessions spread between today and Thursday.

It will be the first round of appearances on a list that includes interrogations of more than a hundred people for subsequent phases, among whom are Carlos Mazón, who announced yesterday his resignation as president of the Valencian Community, or the journalist Maribel Vilaplana, with whom he had lunch on the day of the tragedy.

In the first session of interventions for this Tuesday, five victims have been summoned. The Commission will begin with the appearances of the president and vice president of the Association of Mortal Victims 29O, Rosa María Álvarez Gil and Carmina Gil, respectively. Ernesto Martínez, uncle of Elisabet Gil, who is still missing, will also do so; Dolores Ruiz, who was clinging to a fence for hours and saw how the flood swept away her husband and two of her children, and María Teresa Pagán, who lost three of her relatives to the flood.

On Wednesday the turn will be for several members of the DANA Horta Sud Damaged Association and the last of this first round of sessions will be held on Thursday with another four appearances. Specifically, the president of the Association of Victims of Dana, Mariló Gradolí; of Antonia García, who lost her husband and her daughter; Josep Ignasi Carpio Espí, whose brother and niece died from dana, and María Amparo Puchades.

These appearances will be the first 13 of the total of 127 that are included in the work plan agreed between the PSOE, Sumar and their parliamentary partners and which also includes requests for documentation and videos from the day of the tragedy.

The commission will investigate the management of the dana crisis and will also serve to study and propose improvement measures aimed at alleviating the effects of these adverse phenomena in the future. (Efe)
