November traditionally belongs to men and their beards. Every year during Movember, thousands of men around the world decide to grow their beards, but it’s not just a fashion fad. There is an important message behind this gesture, viz to draw attention to men’s health, especially prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health issues.
Movember isn’t just about beards and moustaches, it’s about talking about these topics out loud. The importance of talking about this issue is also reminded by former presenter and current MEP Veronika Cifrová Ostrihoňová (36). She added a romantic photo on the social network with her husband, presenter Matej Sajf Cifra (46), which you can find in the gallery.
Veronika got into the European Parliament after the elections in June 2024. She was aware that it would not be easy, as she is a mother of two young children. “When I went into politics, we knew it wouldn’t be easy. And it isn’t. Two worlds, two careers, two children who are at the center of it all. And even if the sun doesn’t shine every day (so in Brussels), the hairstyles still hold, beautiful moments still come and home, whether in Bratislava or Brussels, is still a safe harbor,” she wrote strong words.
She immediately switched to the topic of health. “And to keep it that way, I remind myself, Matej and you – that November is also the month of men’s health – both physical and mental. So gentlemen, don’t forget about it and book a preventive check-up. It’s not a shame, it’s a necessity,” she emphasized the importance of visiting a doctor, even if you have no health problems.
