According to Stockholm Regional Police Press Secretary Olau Österling no one was injured and the villa was not evacuated. Employees of the trade delegation observed the drone, which around 5:30 a.m. CET dropped a container with paint and an unknown substance on the villa, said Österling. The employees then turned to the police in Stockholm.
Swedish authorities took samples of the substance for analysis and launched an investigation into vandalism and harassment, confirmed Österling. Officers did not see the drone, but interviewed employees who witnessed the incident. It is currently unclear who is behind the incident.
Österling explained that foreign embassies and their satellite offices and residences are located on the island of Lidingö, which also includes the villa of the Russian trade delegation.
