The search for the path of organized crime led (featured photo), 21 years old, leaving Sobradinho II (DF) and joining Comando Vermelho (CV) in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). The Brasiliense’s brief involvement with the faction, however, had a tragic end. The young man was one of the attacks, which took place on October 28, in the Alemão and Penha complexes.
According to investigations, Érick is the only Brasilia native among the dead and, possibly, was training and working alongside the CV leadership in Rio. Despite being young, he was already an old acquaintance of the Civil Police of the Federal District (). Érick had a criminal history in the country’s capital and had fled to Rio, after using a court order.
The monitoring equipment had been placed at the beginning of September this year, as a result of an accusation of domestic violence. Érick began to be monitored after threatening to kill his own grandmother.
Attempted murder
In April of this year, the boy was sentenced by the Sobradinho Jury Court to eight years in prison, initially in a semi-open regime, for attempted murder against a rival. However, the suspect’s defense filed an appeal and obtained a favorable opinion from the Court, which reduced the sentence to six years. The crime took place in June 2023, in the Central Court of Sobradinho. On that occasion, Érick stabbed another young man with a knife.
According to the investigations carried out by the 13th Police Station, the stabbing would have occurred due to a previous disagreement, motivated by drinking alcohol.
On the day of the attack, the two men got into a verbal argument. During the fight, the perpetrator grabbed a knife and started stabbing the victim, who managed to run away and asked for help at a pharmacy. Érick was released for the crime.
Domestic violence
Érick’s first arrest in the act for domestic violence was recorded in January 2024. The DF Military Police were called to an incident of Lei Maria da Penha, in Vila Buritizinho, involving an altered boy, who was allegedly breaking objects inside the house.
The person who had called the police was Érick’s sister, who told the police she was a victim of psychological violence by the boy, in addition to suffering constant threats.
According to information from the court case, the woman detailed that her brother’s behavior changed drastically when he was under the influence of drugs. During an argument, Érick threatened her, saying: “Do you think you’re going to get into my mind? They think I’m a kid. Know that I’m dying to cut off someone’s head and dismember you.”
Érick was also arrested again, in March of this year, for another incident of domestic violence. This time, the victim was the grandmother. The Federal District Court also granted urgent protective measures to the victim after the elderly woman suffered verbal attacks and threats from her grandson.
In a statement given to the police authority, the elderly woman reported that Érick was threatening and insulting her inside her own home. She had taken in her grandson after his mother threw him out of the house about two years ago.
However, as time went by, the young man became aggressive and began to offend her with words such as “devil, rubbish, disgrace”. According to the victim, the grandson also showed aggression by kicking objects and throwing things away.
The elderly woman decided to file a complaint against her grandson after being threatened with death by him. Érick allegedly told his grandmother that if she didn’t pay the rent for a house, he would destroy the property and “cut off her head”. Furthermore, the boy also said that the victim was not supposed to fight with him, as “he was a criminal”.
Last arrest in DF
Accordingly, Érick’s last arrest was recorded in May this year, on Avenida Comercial do Lago Norte. That day, he was on a bus when he sat next to a woman and started teasing her insistently. At one point, he lay down on the passenger’s lap, who tried to move away.
A man intervened to defend her and ended up brutally beaten. Érick threw a knee that opened a cut on the victim’s eyebrow. When military police arrived at the scene, Érick reacted with threats: “Come, I’m going to kill everyone.” He was arrested for bodily harm, resistance, disobedience and contempt.
The following day, already inside the PCDF prison, he was involved in another fight, also marked by attacks against another inmate. In relation to this crime, the 6th Criminal Court of Brasília sentenced him to 9 months and 15 days of open detention, in addition to a 20-day fine. The sentence was handed down last August.
DF in the crosshairs of organized crime
To the Metropolises The chief deputy of the 13th DP (Sobradinho), Hudson Maldonado, responsible for elucidating the attempted murder committed by Érick, stated that there is no knowledge that the boy was involved in organized crime in the DF.
“I can say that, in Sobradinho, he had no involvement with a faction. Otherwise, we would have known quickly. He had no chance of escalating the crime here. He tried to commit murder, was indicted and convicted. Afterwards, he threatened his sister and was also arrested. So, he went in search of better conditions to commit crimes in Rio de Janeiro”, pondered the delegate.
The PCDF was called in by the Rio Civil Police to collaborate in the investigation into Érick’s links with Comando Vermelho, which has been attracting criminals from other units of the Federation to join the Rio branch of the faction.
The mega-operation Contenção showed that at least 40 of the dead were from outside Rio, including members of Pará, Amazonas, Bahia and Goiás. The crossing of data and criminal profiles is being treated as a priority by the Brasilia police, given the risk of CV expansion in the federal capital.
