Republicans and group of Democrats reach first agreement to end the longest shutdown in US history

Republicans and a group of Democrats reached a first agreement in the US Senate to finance federal activities until January. The agreement still has to pass the House of Representatives, but it is the first sign of progress in what is already the longest shutdown in US history.
