Tornado in PR: “The city is expected to be clean in three days”, says colonel

The government of Paraná continues with cleaning work in Rio Bonito do Iguaçu, a city in the interior of the state that was hit by a tornado last Friday (7). “Fortunately, we no longer have any records of victims or missing people. Today the focus is to start cleaning the city, removing the rubble and, most importantly, surveying the damage and losses so that we can, as soon as possible, get financial resources to these people, to the traders and allow a return to normality”, said the colonel.

According to Schunig, the collected materials will be taken to a nearby field for “later environmentally correct disposal”. The colonel also highlighted that 15 municipalities in the region are helping with the cleaning operation.

Release of R$50 million for reconstruction

The government of Paraná announced, this Sunday (9), that should release around R$50 million from Fecap (State Public Calamity Fund) for the reconstruction of the city.

According to the state administration, at least 90% of the municipality was affected by the phenomenon, with the destruction of homes and public buildings. One day after the event, a bill amending the rules for transferring Fecap was sent to the Legislative Assembly.

The objective of the measure is that resources can be passed directly to familieswhich must receive up to R$50,000 each to rebuild their homes.
