The PGR (Attorney General’s Office) asked, this Monday (10), the STF (Supreme Federal Court) to condemn three federal deputies from , the former president’s party, for corruption related to parliamentary amendments.
Charges were filed against Josimar Maranhãozinho (PL-MA), Bosco Costa (PL-SE) and Pastor Gil (PL-MA) in August, in a confidential process. Now, in a statement to the STF, deputy PGR Hindenburgo Chateaubriand Filho reiterates the accusations of passive corruption and criminal organization.
They are accused of charging bribes to allocate resources to the municipality of São José de Ribamar (MA) through parliamentary amendments.
The case is under the rapporteurship of the minister’s STF.
“The evidence gathered, notably the dialogues examined and the documents seized during the investigation, corroborate the accusation that the defendants constituted a criminal organization focused on distributing parliamentary amendments to municipalities in exchange for bribes,” he said.
The complaints against the three were the first filed against parliamentarians as PGR.
The Prosecutor’s Office also requests the loss of the public mandate and the establishment of compensation for collective moral damages.
In addition to the three, six other people are responsible for the acts, who are not deputies: Abraão Nunes Martins Neto, Adones Nunes Martins, Antônio José Silva Rocha and Thalles Andrade Costa.
According to the PGR, the central nucleus was formed by parliamentarians, with Maranhãozinho as the leader.
“Although the defendants claimed that it was a personal loan, the illicit nature of the transaction is unquestionably revealed by Josimar’s concern about the fact that Pastor Gil’s own account had been used. That is why he said “I don’t think it’s legal, as I have to take care of my Deputy” (page 30 of RAPJ n. 4848329/2021), warning of the need to make the traceability of the operation difficult”, stated the PGR.
The investigators account for more than R$ 1.6 million in bribes — R$ 1.03 million (referring to the 25% portion of R$ 4.12 million in amendments from Bosco Costa), R$ 375 thousand (25% of R$ 1.5 million in amendments from Maranhãozinho) and R$ 262 thousand (25% of R$ 1.05 million in amendments from Pastor Gil).
The scheme, according to the police investigation, involved extortion from . Loan shark Josival Cavalcanti da Silva, known as Pacovan, was in charge of the approaches, according to the accusation.
The diversion of resources would occur, according to the investigation, through contracts with shell companies. The investigation indicates that the amounts were passed on to deputies. Pacovan and his group received a commission, the investigation points out.
