Twelve people died this Tuesday (11) in a suicide attack outside a court in the capital of Pakistan, the Interior Minister announced.
The Tehreek-e- group Pakistan (TTP), known as the Pakistani Taliban, assured this Tuesday (11) that it was not involved in the explosion that occurred today in Islamabad, in which at least 12 people died, contrary to what the Pakistani security forces previously said. .
“The TTP is not involved in the explosion that occurred at the Islamabad courthouse on November 11, 2025,” Mohammad Khorasani, spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban, said in a statement shared on his usual channels. Previously, anonymous Pakistani security forces had attributed possible responsibility for the attack to the TTP.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that the explosion was a suicide attack and left at least 12 dead and 27 injured. “Today at 12:39 pm (local time, 4:39 am Brasília time) a suicide attack took place. The attack caused massive damage. Twelve people died and 27 were injured,” Naqvi told reporters.
The explosion occurred in front of the district courts, in sector G-11 of the city, at peak hour. The court complex is not close to residential areas, but hundreds of people are often present during court opening hours.
“The attacker tried to enter the court premises because he was waiting for the opportune moment to do so. Then, when a police van arrived, he attacked the van as he realized he could not enter. Everyone is searched before entering, so he was unable to do so,” Naqvi explained.
“He then changed his target to the police van. Our priority is to identify him,” he added. The explosion occurred a day after a vehicle exploded near New Delhi’s historic Red Fort, in the capital of killing eight people and injuring 20 others.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised on Tuesday to bring to justice all those responsible for the explosion in . Pakistan has experienced an increase in attacks by armed groups since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Islamabad accuses Kabul of harboring TTP insurgents on its territory to carry out attacks inside Pakistan, something that Afghanistan’s de facto government denies.
