Project author defends federalizing the fight against crime – 11/10/2025 – Panel

The deputy (União Brasil-CE), author of the project that differs from the text’s rapporteur, (PP-SP), on the request of the state government to the Ministry of Justice.

For him, cases involving confrontations with criminal organizations should be federalized.

“My original project is different from Derrite’s report. I propose it because I think that the federal courts are more agile than the state courts and are less corrupt”, he says. “In my initial project I proposed that there be an integration of all repressive forces.”

The parliamentarian assesses that they are idle in Brazil and that they could contribute to the logistics of combating organized crime. “Today, in order for the Army and the Armed Forces to act, you need the GLO (Guarantee of Law and Order). This is not necessary. The fight against organized crime is permanent”, he argues.

Forte states that, alone, the Civil and Military Police are unable to combat organized crime.

The deputy also criticizes the federal government’s opposition to equating criminal organizations with terrorist groups. “When I prepared the project, the first thing I did was go to the Ministry of Justice. I had the opportunity to meet there twice. And I already felt, in the meetings I had, a certain neglect, a certain lack of commitment to building the solution.”

The author of the proposal praises Derrite’s appointment to report the text. “I know his commitment to the security segment,” he says. “I know he is committed because of his training and because of the professional life he has.”

Both will meet this Tuesday (11) to discuss the project, according to the parliamentarian.
