The news that passengers have been waiting for: The crashed trains have been removed, when will they resume traffic?

The crashed trains after Sunday’s (November 9) accident have already been removed from the track, but the damaged part of the track remains out of service. Trains in the section are currently delayed by an average of 10 to 20 minutes, while some passenger trains are temporarily canceled due to the reduced capacity of the line, according to the disposition of the Slovakian Railway Company (ZSSK). This was confirmed for TASR by the department of communication and marketing of the Railways of the Slovak Republic (ŽSR).

“The last car from the train sets, including the driving vehicles, was pulled off the track today at 1:10 p.m. Due to clean-up work, repair work on the damaged parts of the railway infrastructure (track and switches) has not yet started. Damaged part of track no. 2 including switches no. 12 and 14 will remain out of service until the repair work is completed“, stated ŽSR.

According to ŽSR, the exact date of resumption of transport will depend on the availability of material and its delivery from an external environment. “The resulting price for the repair of the damaged part of the railway infrastructure will be determined on the basis of a price offer from an external environment,” they noted.

Two trains collided near Pezinka on Sunday evening. Train REX 1814 collided with train Ex 620 after leaving the Pezinok station. The reason was probably that one of them ran a red light. The accident did not cause any casualties, but dozens of passengers were injured. 79 people ended up in hospitals. Health Minister Kamil Šaško (Voice-SD) announced on Monday (November 10) that all patients are out of danger.
