Trial of the State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, live | The dean of the Madrid bar association assures that the note from the Prosecutor’s Office caused “deep concern” and “alarm” in the Legal Profession | Spain

An association of lawyers charges against the Madrid College for appearing as an accusation in the trial of the attorney general

This Tuesday, the Free Association of the Legal Profession released a letter in which it denounces the “lack of neutrality” of the Illustrious Bar Association of Madrid (ICAM) and its dean, Eugenio Ribón, in the case against the State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, in which the ICAM is represented as an accusation. In the note, they denounce that Ribón acted with “unusual speed” when appearing as an accusation, with an “unprecedented deployment” of actions against García Ortiz and for positioning himself “in a legally unnecessary manner, in accordance with the defense theses” of Alberto González Amador, the boyfriend of Isabel Díaz Ayuso.

They also criticize that Ribón has “overacted” and has claimed to speak “on behalf of society as a whole” and that he makes statements in his indictment that do not apply to him, such as that González Amador has suffered “reputational damage of a social and economic nature” or that the Prosecutor’s Office is “undoubtedly contaminated”, thus “joining” González Amador’s defense strategy to achieve the annulment of the process that will be followed against him for tax fraud.

He also criticizes that the ICAM assumes that there is a “Moncloa connection”, in the sense that the presidency of the Government is involved in the case. Finally, he denounces that despite appearing as an accusation for the leak of an email, that of February 2, he has maintained a “cry silence” in the face of the leak of another email, that of February 12, the one that Miguel Ángel Rodríguez spread to create a hoax about the origin of a possible agreement of conformity in the case of González Amador’s tax fraud.
