Sinner frustrates Alcaraze and takes two ATP Finals championship – 11/16/2025 – Sport

In the 16th chapter of the rivalry that drives current tennis, Jannik Sinner prevented Carlos Alcaraz from achieving his first title at the ATP Finals and secured his second title in front of the Italian fans, in Turin. At home, the number 2 in the world beat the ranking leader by 2 sets to 0, with scores of 7/6 and 7/5.

It was the eighth decision between the two, and the Italian reduced the Spaniard’s advantage. Alcaraz has won five times —US Open, Cincinnati Masters, Roland Garros and Rome Masters in 2025, in addition to the Beijing ATP in 2024— and Sinner has won three finals over his rival: Wimbledon 2025, Umag ATP 2022 and now the ATP Finals 2025.

The ATP Finals brings together the top eight in the rankings and marks the end of the men’s tennis season. Despite the defeat, Alcaraz will remain number 1 in the world.

Sinner and Alcaraz reached the final undefeated, and the Italian will pocket the top prize of US$5.07 million, in addition to 1,500 ranking points. The Spaniard will receive US$2.70 million and 1,000 points.

On the way to the decision, Alcaraz defeated Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime (number 8) by 2 sets to 0 (6/2 and 6/4) in the semifinal. Sinner, in turn, beat Australian Alex de Minaur (number 7) also by 2-0 (7/5 and 6/2).

This year’s final attracted illustrious attendance. Brazilian Gustavo Kuerten watched the match in Turin —Guga was champion of the Finals, then called Masters, in 2000, when he took the top spot in the rankings. F1 driver Kimi Antonelli, from Mercedes, was also in the stands.
