The Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation decided to remove Alex Merlin for ten days due to a controversial post on social media at the end of last season.

At the end of last season, when the best five in the First Futsal League were announced, the veteran of the ‘lions’, who was part of that collective, shared a publication with the names and images of the five chosen athletes.
In place of the best goalkeeper, Léo Googlefrom rival Benfica, theadvice-Brazilian posted an image of a mouse.
It was this publication that was the subject of scrutiny by the Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation, which did not ignore what had happened.
“Under these terms and on the grounds set out, the Disciplinary Council decides, in the present case, to partially judge the Accusation and, consequently, convict the Defendant Alex Rodrigo Merlin Silva for committing a disciplinary infraction provided for and sanctioned by article 171.º-A of the RDFPF, with the sanction of suspension of 10 (ten) days”, reads the statement.
In addition to the Brazilian goalkeeper and the ‘green and white’ winger, Tiago Paçó (Sporting), Tiago Brito (SC Braga) and Willian Carioca (Quinta dos Lombos) completed last season’s team of the year.
In the next ten days, Sporting will face Famalicão for the championship (the 19th) and AEK Atenas (the 24th).
