
A car caught fire next to the United States Embassy this morning. The vehicle may have lost track and collided with a post.
In the early hours of Saturday, six people died after a crash of a car on Avenida das Forças Armadas, in Lisbon, in front of the Embassy of the United States of America. This Sunday morning, firefighters had confirmed 5 deaths, a number that increased at the end of the morning.
The vehicle reportedly hit a pole, which caused it to catch fire. Five people, whose identities, age or gender were not given, were burned to death.
A PSP source told Lusa that the car “crashed, hit a pillar and caught fire, inside there were five people who were charred”.
O alert was given at 03:41 and reported a vehicle on fire on the public road, next to the access to the North-South Axis, towards the 25 de Abril Bridge.
This morning, the incident area was still delimited and 8 firefighters and PSP agents were at the scene. Work was underway at the site throughout Sunday morning.
