Margarida Santos talks to actress and psychologist Carla Andrino about her story with cancer. The conflicts she experienced and the desire not to be looked at with pity.

“It’s going to be a complicated year, but you won’t die”, was the phrase the doctor told him at the time of diagnosis and which, according to him, was the motivation he needed to face the process with courage.

Today, she thanks the doctor who accompanied her and, when she remembers that time, she remembers how beautiful she felt. “I was fighting for my life”, explains Carla Andrino.

The actress, however, remembers the moments when she “didn’t even have the energy to climb a staircase”. He admits that he experienced great inner conflicts during the process, mainly because he didn’t want people to look at him with pity.

“Don’t look at me as if I were dead, don’t bury me the night before”, was what he asked those closest to him.
