President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) can veto the dosimetry project, approved in the Chamber this Tuesday (9), which reduces the sentences of Jair Bolsonaro and others involved in the coup acts. According to the president’s allies interviewed by Folha de S.Paulo, the tendency is for Lula to veto the project in its entirety.
These people interviewed by Folha also cite as an argument in favor of the veto the fact that the project not only benefits those convicted of the 8/01 acts, but also other criminals.
Although Lula is willing to block the entire project, his allies say they recommended calm to the president. Some of them, according to Folha, advocate waiting for the STF (Supreme Federal Court) to comment on the issue first.

Other points of attention raised are the Executive’s recent record of victories in Congress, with approval of projects of interest to the government, and the fear of disturbing the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), who is negotiating the approval of Jorge Messias’s name for the STF.
This Wednesday (10), which was marked by the violent expulsion of deputy Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ) from the presidency of the House and the censorship of journalists who recorded the facts in the Chamber.
“I’m very calm about what’s happening in Brazil. This disagreement in the Chamber is characteristic of democracy, we were unused to it”, he stated, during an event with mayors and governors. “This country is changing for the better, you can be sure.”
In parallel, Folha also reports that the minister of the Institutional Relations Secretariat, Gleisi Hoffmann, sought out ministers and party leaders to question them about their allies’ vote in favor of the dosimetry PL, approved in the dead of night.
