Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Corina Machado said this Thursday (11) that she plans to take her prize back to Venezuela, but refused to say when she will return to her home country.
“I came to receive the award on behalf of the Venezuelan people and I will take it back to Venezuela at the appropriate time. Of course I will not say when it will be,” she told reporters in Oslo.
The Venezuelan opposition leader arrived in Norway yesterday and made her first public appearance in 11 months. She spoke to supporters who were at the Grand Hotel in Oslo, this Thursday (11).
Machado’s journey to the Norwegian capital was risky. Persecuted by the government of President Nicolás Maduro, she is banned from leaving Venezuela and has been living practically in hiding for the last year.
