The former president’s son stated that he is giving up his mandate to concentrate his efforts on building his pre-candidacy for the Senate for Santa Catarina in the 2026 elections
The councilor (PL) announced, at the beginning of this Thursday’s session (11), that he will leave his position at the City Council. The announcement took place during the opening hours. The former president’s son stated that he is giving up his mandate to concentrate his efforts on building his pre-candidacy for the Senate in the 2026 elections.
“I leave this city with a heart full of longing, but also with the serenity of someone who knows that they are fulfilling a greater mission, of which I have always been part. I am going to Santa Catarina to fulfill a calling that I could not fulfill here”, he declared.
When saying goodbye to the parliamentarians, Carlos Bolsonaro highlighted that coexistence with the other councilors was relevant for his personal development. “We learned life lessons in this house and, as I told your Excellency, this is what forms our character, which forms who we are. And your Excellency is fully convinced that my relationship, which I have with you and with the other colleagues in this house, is without a doubt remarkable for the person I am, whether that is good or bad I don’t know.”
Elected for the first time in 2000, at the age of 17, Carlos is completing his seventh consecutive term in the Rio Chamber. In October, he had already anticipated that he would run for the Senate alongside federal deputy Caroline de Toni (PL).
In the 2026 elections, Santa Catarina will choose two representatives for the Senate. In recent months, Carlos Bolsonaro has been traveling through several cities in Santa Catarina, seeking to reinforce his political activities, participating in local agendas and holding meetings with businesspeople.
