Units at Albert Einstein, Sírio-Libanês and Prevent hospitals had to resort to generators and set up contingency plans, due to the lack of power caused by strong winds in the city of São Paulo.
In the case of Einstein, there was a strong power fluctuation for two to three hours on Wednesday (10) at the Alphaville, Perdizes, Espaço Einstein (Jockey), Ibirapuera and Jardins units.
This Thursday (11), the Jockey and Ibirapuera units continue to have problems, running on generators. The institution states, however, that there is no problem with the supply of generators and that, for now, the operation of the electrical part in the locations is normal.
Furthermore, one of the units managed by the Sírio-Libanês Social Responsibility Institute, the Rota dos Bandeirantes Regional Hospital, in Barueri, also faced power fluctuations and runs on generators. According to the institution, services are normal.
In the case of the Prevent network, there was a total or partial lack of energy in 11 of the 40 units in Greater São Paulo. “They all have generator systems to guarantee operation until supply is restored. However, contingency plans were adopted to optimize energy consumption and avoid waste”, he stated in a note.
According to reports, there is concern about the supply of diesel for generators in large private hospitals. Measures were implemented to try to save energy, such as the rational use of elevators and guidance on descending stairs on lower floors.
One day after what hit the state of , the metropolitan region is still dealing with the damage caused by the windstorms that reached almost 100 km/h.
In addition to hundreds of thousands of people still without electricity, there are also reports of water shortages in several neighborhoods in the city. Congonhas and Guarulhos airports are also facing difficulties, with hundreds of flights delayed or postponed.
