BRASILIA, 11 Dec (Reuters) – President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said this Thursday that, in a phone call to United States President Donald Trump, he said that Latin America is a peaceful zone and is not interested in wars.
The North American president lays siege to Venezuela, with the intensification of the military presence in the Caribbean, and is pressing for the departure of Venezuelan leader, Nicolás Maduro.
“Yesterday when I was talking to him… he talked to me a lot, and I said ‘Hey Trump, we don’t want war in Latin America. We are a zone of peace'”, said Lula at an event in Minas Gerais, actually referring to a phone call from last week, according to his advisor.
