Center deputies see Hugo’s error in the Zambelli case – 12/11/2025 – Panel

Center deputies and party leaders see a series of errors in the decision by the president of , (Republicanos-PB), that the House give the final word on the loss of mandate of the deputy (PL-SP), a fugitive in Italy and .

On the night of this Thursday (11), the minister, from the STF, held in the Chamber that saved the Bolsonarista’s mandate — there were 227 votes to 170, when the minimum necessary to impeach the parliamentarian would be 257 votes. He also ordered the immediate loss of the deputy’s mandate.

The measure generated negative reactions from deputies, with scathing criticism of Motta’s performance in the episode. Under reservation, a center party leader claims that the Chamber failed to fulfill its role in saving Zambelli, who is imprisoned in Italy and was convicted by the STF for breaking into the CNJ (National Council of Justice) system with the help of hacker Walter Delgatti Neto, also convicted.

In his opinion, it was enough for Motta to revoke the parliamentarian’s mandate due to absences, as should happen in the case of the deputy (PL-SP), to avoid the hassle of saving a parliamentarian condemned by the STF and, later, having the decision annulled by the Supreme Court.

Another deputy also talks about an error in reading Motta’s scenario and remembers that, the day before, parliamentarians went into the early hours of the morning voting for the (PL).

This element, added to the fact that, before Zambelli, the Chamber took more than four hours to consider the mandate of the deputy (PSOL-RJ), influenced the vote on the impeachment of the Bolsonarista, according to parliamentarians.

When Zambelli’s loss of mandate was finally voted on, the quorum was 408 deputies, considered low on a controversial matter. Deputies claim that Motta lacked the ability to articulate and count votes before closing the vote. The result, they add, was a decision by the Chamber that generated an impasse with the STF whose perspective is only to escalate and further strain the relationship between Powers.
