President stated that the American leader became his friend ‘with a little talk’
The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva Today, at a press conference in Brasília, he took stock of actions for the year 2025. During his speech, before answering questions from journalists, the president spoke about Brazil’s economy and commented on his relationship with the president of the United States, Donald Trump. “Trump became my friend, two 80-year-old men, there is no reason to fight (…) without any shots, without any weapons, without any bombs on the Brazilian coast”, he said.
Furthermore, Lula also said that he spoke with Nicolás Maduro for 40 minutes and with the American for the same time. “This is a zone of peace. I don’t know who is interested in this war. Nobody puts what they want on the table. I told Maduro that if he wants help, he needs to say so. I told Trump that we are interested in mediating dialogue to avoid an armed confrontation here.”
Regarding the Dosimetry PL, approved by the Senate last night, Lula said that the text will be vetoed as soon as it reaches his desk. “People who commit crimes against democracy will have to pay. With all the respect I have for the national congress, when it reaches my desk I will veto it, it’s no secret to anyone.”
