What was supposed to be a day of fantasy and fun at Disneyland Paris turned into an unexpected scene of protest and discontent. On December 13th, visitors who came to the park hoping for a magical experience were surprised by a strike by employees responsible for cleaning the parks and hotels.
Workers from the company ONET, in charge of cleaning services, gathered near the entrance to the park as a form of protest against their working conditions. During the demonstration, they occupied access areas, used rubbish bins as percussion instruments and spread waste on the floor, creating an environment very far from the usual image of the space.
This type of protest is not unprecedented. In 2019, ONET employees had carried out a similar action and, last year, they even threatened to go on strike, a situation that ended up being avoided after negotiations with the park administration.
The conflict has been marked by accusations from both sides. ONET points to unrealistic work targets imposed by Disneyland Paris, while the park’s management company claims it is not directly responsible for the working conditions of these workers.
For many visitors, the impact was immediate and negative. People who had paid for tickets and planned their visit for months expressed frustration at the scene they found upon arrival, feeling that the promised magic had been compromised.
