Federal deputy Maurício Carvalho (União-RO) made a post on social media to say that he is fine after a plane he was carrying made a forced landing in Extrema, in the Porto Velho region. The aircraft caught fire after he, the pilot and the other passengers disembarked.
“We are all fine: the pilot, all the advisors and the entire team. We had a forced landing after a breakdown in the aircraft”, said the deputy, who was grateful for the calls he received after the incident. Carvalho, who is president of the Education Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, said he experienced a “deliverance” when he emerged unharmed from the accident.
Porto Velho councilor Márcio Pacele (Republicans) was also on the plane, as well as Carvalho’s advisors.
A doctor by training, Maurício Carvalho was a councilor and vice-mayor of Porto Velho before taking up a seat in the Chamber of Deputies. He was elected for the first time in the last elections, in 2022. He is the brother of former deputy Mariana Carvalho (União Brasil-RO). Both are sons of Aparício Carvalho, former vice-governor of the state.
