The former president (PL) confirmed, in a letter signed at the hospital where he is admitted for surgery, the nomination of the senator (PL-RJ) as a pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic in 2026.
The text talks about “continuity” and mentions battles that the former president would be facing. He is imprisoned at the Federal Police Superintendence in Brasília, serving a sentence for an attempted coup d’état.
“Faced with this scenario of injustice, and with the commitment to not allow the popular will to be silenced, I have taken the decision to nominate Flávio Bolsonaro as the pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic in 2026”, says Bolsonaro in the letter.
Bolsonaro is admitted to the DF Star hospital to undergo surgery this Thursday (25th), Christmas Day.
After carrying out tests, the medical team assessed that Bolsonaro is ready to undergo the procedure, scheduled to start at 9am and last around four hours. The initial estimate is that he will be hospitalized for five to seven days for follow-up after surgery.
Bolsonaro left through the back of the PF unit on Wednesday (24) and, at around 9:30 am, was escorted by a convoy to the hospital, on a journey that lasted around five minutes. The minister of the (Federal Supreme Court) authorized the surgery to correct the condition.
