She died at the age of 91 in the Specialized Geriatric Hospital in Podunajské Biskupice Magda Rúfusová, a prominent figure in the Slovak cultural and media sphere. She died peacefully, provided with church sacraments, in the presence of Catholic and Evangelical priests. After the final blessing, she gave her soul to God, to whom she remained faithful throughout her life, the website reports.
The widow of the well-known poet Milan Rúfus, who passed away in 2009, was a doctor of philosophy and she connected her entire professional life with Slovak public television, where she worked for many years as an editor of programs taken from abroad.
Her colleagues respected her for her expertise, precision and quiet but firm professionalism. The biggest loss in life for Magda Rúfusová was the death of her daughter Zuzana, who died in 2023. Despite personal tragedies, she maintained dignity, inner strength and humility.
