White containers for waste segregation have appeared. Do you know what to put in them?

New solutions introduced in selected communes resulted in white containers appearing in some places. This is another step towards more precise waste sorting. It is worth knowing what to put into new containers to segregate waste properly.

Waste segregation is an important element of environmental protection allows the reuse of many raw materials. Poland has a color system for containers that makes it easier for residents to sort waste correctly. Basically we have the following division of garbage containers:

  • blue (paper),
  • green (glass),
  • brown (bio-waste),
  • yellow (metals and plastics),
  • black (mixed waste).

But it turns out that in some communes there is a slightly modified system. Glass is not just thrown into the green bin. New buckets were placed to make recycling even better and more efficient.

In some communes, such as Gizałki, Siedlce and Przemęt, the first white waste bins appeared. Therefore, when we go to throw away the garbage, we may come across completely new containers. Wondering about them, it is worth knowing that they are intended for glass disposal, just like green containers.

However, with the difference that Only colorless glass should be placed in white bucketsand the remaining colored ones, as before, into the green container. This only applies to places where both containers are present.

This system therefore applies only in households and apartment blocks where segregation is mandatory and residents have white and green containers at their disposal. However, it cannot be ruled out that if this solution proves effective, there will be a systematic increase in the number of new containers also in other regions.

It is worth considering that the new containers are intended for colorless glass. Therefore, we should not place colored glass packaging in it, of course, but also any type of ceramics such as porcelain, plates or flower pots.

We also do not put glass pharmaceutical packaging, car windows, candles with wax, light bulbs or construction glass into the white container. This type of waste should be disposed of in other containers or selective collection points, in accordance with the principles of segregation.
