Waiting to undergo medical examinations and sign a contract at Santos, Gabigol paid tribute to Cruzeiro this Friday (2) on his social networks.
The 29-year-old shared a post celebrating the club’s 105th anniversary.
Gabigol wrote: “Congratulations, Cruzeiro Warrior. Biggest in Minas!”
The publication takes place on the day that the striker’s contract will be on loan and the clubs must split half and half the number 9’s monthly salaries in a season-long agreement.
Hired by Raposa at the beginning of 2025, Gabigol has a contract until the end of 2028, with one of the highest salaries in national football. The management has been dealing with the matter for a few weeks now, as the number 9 is no longer part of the celestial plans for the season that is about to start.
It was discreet and contrasted with all the fuss about the signing made official on January 1, 2025. The striker lost space especially after the arrival of Leonardo Jardim, being Kaio Jorge’s backup.
He started 23 of the 49 games he played, contributing 13 goals and four assists. If confirmed, it will be Gabigol’s third spell at Santos. Menino da Vila, the striker defended the club until 2016 and in 2018.
In total, there were 207 games, 83 goals and 13 assists for Peixe. Outside Vila Belmiro, the center forward also played for Inter Milan and Benfica and shone with the Flamengo shirt between 2019 and 2024.
